MPG UI Art Test

"Create a final screen mock up based on the brief and wireframe"

I haven't had much experience with UI design but after this brief I am fairly fond of it. I liked cultivating a certain vibe and working out the best route for the best player experience within that vibe. The brief described a racing game with quite a 'pop-art' like style. Fun project!

I did feel as though I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing the entire time but my end result came out pretty good! :) It looks quite clunky still, I think I would change the font now or at least have a couple different fonts spread throughout.

I did get chosen for feedback on this task! Woohoo! The feedback from MPG ended up being extremely helpful and I am very grateful for their time out to do that for us.

Insanely detailed feedback: much appreciated and all taken onboard!

MPG 2D Art Test

For this task we had been asked to pick between 3 options of character to create a final concept piece of:

  • Steampunk Cowboy
  • Evil Princess
  • Alien Cook
Immediately I'm picking Evil Princess.

I was excited for this challenge as this is where my passion lies, character creation. Time got a little ahead of me and I ended up not having the ideal amount to do this task justice but I'm still fairly okay with the result. I do feel I tend to focus much more upon the ideation process and neglect the final render, potentially because it's in a rush at the end or maybe it's down to a level of perfectionism... either way something to work on.

The final result is just not a clear showcase of my art style, in tasks that have a grade attached or an importance I seem to struggle to use my own art style, I assume this comes with practice and just creating MORE so that I get used to not everything having to be my 'best piece'.

Unfortunately, I was not chosen for feedback from MPG on this task, after feedback from lecturer I was close but the rendering of my final piece was holding me back.

Portfolio and Evaluation

Evaluation: I think I lost the essence of the project in the middle a little, I got stuck on wanting to do the realistic to fantasy pipeline...
